Vinyl Confessions war das erste Album, das nicht mehr alle Gründungsmitglieder umfasste. Steve Walsh hatte die Band im Jahre 1981 verlassen und gründete die Band Streets. Er wurde von dem jungen Sänger John Elefante ersetzt.
